East Coast Experience

wine tourism in Cantabria

East Coast Experience

We will be heading east of Cantabria to learn about their most traditional products and places.

The first stop will be a fish cannery, where the famous Cantabrian anchovies are made as well as other delicious local products that we can also try and buy. Canning has been an industry with great importance in Cantabria since the 19th century, when Italian immigrants brought their long tradition to our region.

Nowadays, wine production is increasingly important in this region of the East Coast. And we will also visit one of the wineries that are located here, where we can learn about their vineyards, the stages of production and taste their wines.

Then we will visit the beautiful fishing town of Castro Urdiales, with an extensive fishing and whaling history. We will visit its old area, the 13th century Church of Santa María de la Asunción and the Castle of Santa Ana.

We will eat skewers and other dishes with ingredients from the area.

Return to Santander.
